Check your mail

Well check your mail today, tomorrow or Friday because there's probably an ivory colored square envelope in there that might just have something along the lines of an invitation in it!!! Send those response cards back as we're anxious to hear back from you!!!!!!!

Ten weeks and counting...

Less than 100...

One of the many wedding newsletters I am now subscribed to dropped the "99 days until your wedding" email in my box late last week. Which puts us approaching 90 days right about now!

Here's all that's going on...
We have a DJ. We had one less than 24 hrs after we parted ways with the previous one. So all is well there.
My wedding dress is in!!! I'm going to try it on Tuesday- keep your fingers crossed that it looks and fits perfectly!
Doing some major wedding invitation addressing this weekend. Thanks to anyone who plans on helping out Friday and/ or Saturday! They won't go in the mail until June 16, but look for them shortly after that!

I think thats about it- it seems like things are picking up with the wedding a bit so its good that my summer events are almost done at work (two more weeks!)

Back to square one...

"We are back to square one. I have fired the DJ." -email received in my inbox this afternoon

Well, in Mike's words, we're back to square one. We had thought we found a great DJ. But we were sorely mistaken. A discussion over start/end times revealed the fact that we were being ripped off and, well, we don't have a DJ. Fortunately we already have come up with two other plans and are just figuring out which to go with. No worries, there WILL be music at the reception!
FYI- The DJ's name was Elite Mobile DJ. Just in case you were wondering.

May Update

Recent wedding happenings...
  • FINALLY Hobby Lobby put all wedding things 50% off! (Yes, I have been checking since the week we got engaged!) Got two flower girl baskets, a ring bearer pillow and an aisle runner. Still need to take the aisle runner out and check it out to make sure it'll work- we don't need a very long one so I'm sure it'll be good.
  • Picked up a signature frame at Michaels yesterday (also 50% off this week) which is what we'll be doing in lieu of a guest book!
  • Mom and I are addressing the invitations in about two weeks so they'll be ready to go later in June- very excited to get working on those and get them out to all of you!
  • The bridesmaid dresses are all in and to their respective owners. I've seen Daria try hers on but I haven't seen Katie or Nat try theirs on yet.
  • Supposedly my dress is going to ship from wherever its being made sometime this week, so it should be in soon!
Check back with you soon!

Invites are already here!

Check out our beautiful invites- they're already here! Watch for them in the mail sometime in June... :-)

When Mike and I went out for "date night" last night, we were talking about how soon the wedding is. Basically, here's how our next few weeks go... This Friday is my first Relay event of the season. Between this week and the second weekend in June (7 short weeks), all my Relays take place, so that's pretty much going to be a whirlwind of activity. Then, a week after Relays are done, Mike and I go to Chicago for a Kenny Chesney concert (thanks Dad!) and my bridal shower (thanks Mom!) That following week, Mike leaves to go to the Olympic Trials for the greater part of a week. Then the first week in August will be my kickoff breakfast for Strides, my breast cancer walk in October. And at that point, we're down to three weeks until the wedding! Woo hoo!

Have a great weekend, and talk to you soon!

Still here?

It's been at least a month since the last time I posted! Things have been rolling right along and time is flying by. All of a sudden we find ourselves exactly 22 weeks away from the wedding, according to my countdown on the calendar. People have started making their travel plans to come down here (or up here, or over here, depending on where they're coming from!) Mike and I are going to order invitations and tuxedos today, and we're going to keep searching for a wedding ring for Mike. We'll start meeting with Ben, our pastor, in the next few weeks hopefully and begin working on the ceremony. Our reception location sent us a gift certificate for free ballroom dancing lessons (but we'll see if we can fit them in our schedules!) Pretty soon the girls and I will start looking for shoes, accessories, etc. And although I'm pretty much convinced the next two months are going to FLY by with all four of my Relay For Life events over by June 14, we'll only be down to about two and a half months at that point!

Anybody out there have any questions about the wedding? Just drop a comment to say hi if you read this so I know who's checking in! Have a great weekend!

"You can blog that!"

After the momentous occasion of actually leaving our dog out of her crate for an hour and a half while we went to dinner tonight, Mike and I came home and went over the apartment carefully, before he proudly proclaimed "You can blog that!" Our puppy dog is growing up!

Honeymoon!

Honeymoon plans are all set!!!!!!!!!

We'll be spending seven lovely nights at the Cozumel Palace in Cozumel, Mexico. Based on flight availability, we're leaving the Wednesday (a few days after the wedding) and returning the following Wednesday (Sept 3-10). We'll be traveling out of Indianapolis and going to lay in the sun (among other things) for a whole week. We got a free trip to swim with the dolphins and a honeymoon upgrade (which includes a whole bunch of great perks). Best part is that its an all inclusive hotel so we'll never need to shell out cash for drinks or any of our meals! :-) Perfect way to relax after all the wedding festivities!

Well that was the last big piece of the puzzle that is our wedding. Everything is booked and pretty much ready to go... (insert sigh of relief right here!) Let the six month countdown begin!

I hope you're all staying warm and out of the snow- spring is almost here! See you soon!

Snow Day!

Well work was closed today, so I got an unexpected three day weekend! (Chesney playing in the snow above) It actually feels like more, because first thing Monday morning I'm heading to Dallas for the majority of the week. It looks like all the snow should be out of here by then, so flying shouldn't be a problem.

This weekend's wedding tasks include the following: get all the bridesmaids fitted for their dresses tomorrow and get the dresses ordered (yes, Nat is coming down tonight, Katie is coming tomorrow, and Daria is already in Champaign!) Then tomorrow or Sunday we need to go sit down with the lady that's doing our cake and officially book her. Make sure to vote on the new survey at the bottom for your favorite kind of cake! Since Katie is in town, we'll probably see our DJ too (since they're related!) and will hopefully get him to save the date for our wedding.

Sunday is superbowl day... hope everybody enjoys some awesome chili, pizza, beer and whatever else people have for the superbowl...

Registry

Ok, I haven't been on here in quite some time, so I kicked Amy off the computer and took over!!! HAHA!!

So, we've been real busy (ok Amy has) with the wedding. She's been real diligent about studying up on all the different kinds of florists, cakes, honeymoon locations, etc. I've been real diligent about ... hmm ... oh yeah, paying the down payments for the florists, photographer, etc. I'm a good catch huh?

Well, this good catch got even better this weekend. I started off by taking her to a chic flic. We went and watched 27 dresses at the theatre. Now don't go spreading this around but it was actually kind of a cute move. Ok, enough of that!

So, today we went fake shopping! That's right, we walked (and walked and walked) around Macy's and Target and shot things with a laser. You get this UPC reader and walk around and choose the items that you will need to start off your marriage. I tried to quickly go to the lingerie department, but was immediately stopped. SHEESH!

But we did pick out some really cool dinnerware (Trojan Red and Illini Blue) and other kitchen stuff. We started off this adventure at 1pm and didn't get home until 7pm. LONG time. My feet are killing me.

So, I guess this is where I tell you all that we are registered at Target and Macy's. I guess you can go online and see all this wonderful stuff. Hope you have as much fun looking at it as I did laser-tagging it.

Now back to your regularly scheduled Amy broadcast...

Happy new year!

I know, I know, it's been forever since I posted on this thing- we weren't really getting many comments, so I haven't been writing much, but I'm willing to give it another shot. If you want me to keep writing in here, start posting some comments! :-)

Well tons of updates to be made on the wedding...
  • The ceremony is going to be at the Vineyard Church in Urbana. Since it's so huge (seats about 1000-1500 people), we're going to have the wedding in a smaller, more intimate room. It's going to be really beautiful!
  • The reception is at the Regent Ballroom in Savoy, just as I posted before. No real updates here, except I hear that it's all booked up through the majority of next year! I'm so happy we got in before everybody else! One of my new co-workers takes ballroom dancing there and says how beautiful it always looks for weddings! They told us that starting in March, they pretty much have a wedding every Saturday and we can stop by and see everything whenever we feel like it. I fully intend to take them up on that to get some ideas on how to set up the reception!
  • I'm going dress shopping next week. I think I have my dress picked out, as I looked at it online and then found it in person and loved it on the hanger. Mom is going to come down and hopefully that will be the end of the dress search! I've also picked out bridesmaid dresses (almost officially) and flower girl dresses are down to two choices. The color is called "merlot" and the lady called it closet to magenta.
  • There will be LOTS of pink flowers, in varying shades. Our florist is very creative and able to work with us in coming up with unique ideas. I just booked the florist today!
I guess that's probably about it for now. Post comments so I know you're checking! :-)
